Task templates let you get new campaigns up and running quickly. It also saves a tremendous amount of time when setting up new monthly tasks for you and your team.
It is important to remember these are MONTHLY task templates.
You can load multiple task templates to a given month. So you may want to sort your task templates into service groupings. For example, you may have a task for content creation which might include the following:
1. Brainstorm content ideas
2. Research blog post
3. Outline blog post
4. Write 1,000 word blog post
5. Design featured image of blog post
6. Find screenshots to support claims in blog post
7. Send to client for editing / approval
8. Make final edits to blog post
9. Schedule blog post to publish
Then you may have a separate task template for content promotion, which might look like:
1. Prepare message to email subscribers
2. Schedule email blast to send in MailChimp
3. Post to Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and LinkedIn groups
4. Tag any people/companies referenced in the post
5. Use BuzzSumo to find relevant influencers relating to the blog post
6. Begin influencer outreach to get them to read/share the post
7. Find industry roundups for blog post
8. Leave comments on relevant blogs
9. Submit content to Outbrain for paid promotion
10. Respond to blog comments
If you were providing both the creation and the promotion, you would be able to load both of these task templates into a campaign. Try to keep them as organized as possible. We recommend having a separate template for "Analytics" so you can quickly load that as well. For example, if you are doing SEO, your "Analytics" template might look like this:
1. Check keyword rankings
2. Monitor Google Analytics
3. Review traffic sources
4. Review email subscribers
5. New customers/orders
Remember, break tasks down as much as possible. This properly represents the work you are doing, and demonstrates to the client the amount of things involved. So many people would underscore their own services by grouping these 3 different sets of services into 3 tasks (create content, promote content, review analytics). You are doing much more than that, so be sure your task templates represent that properly!
